Fighting for Our Families

I will always fight for the hard working families of our community and do those things which will make us strong together well into the future.

Thaddeus Jones is a champion for education. While a member of the General Assembly he has sponsored and passed legislation that has brought new financial resources to our community’s schools and he has been an advocate for changing the way we fund education in Illinois to ensure that every child has access to a quality education regardless of their family’s income or zip code.

Thaddeus introduced and passed legislation that ensures that every child in Illinois is required to learn about the important contributions of African-Americans to the history of our nation.

A former student trustee at South Suburban College, Thaddeus has worked with our community’s mayors and state officials to strengthen our community college system.

Thaddeus is committed to provide economic opportunity in the Southland. He passed legislation (HB 212) which created a 25-year tax plan for a business and economic development corridor.

Additionally, he has championed the development of the Illiana Expressway, a project that would connect Interstates 55 and 65, and reduce congestion in our communities, making the Southland a more attractive location for business. He has also worked with local leaders to push for the creation of the Metra Southeast Service Line, which would help spur economic develop and create jobs in our community.

Thaddeus Jones has been a consistent champion of common sense gun legislation designed to make our neighborhoods safer while protecting the rights of law abiding gun owners.
Thaddeus fought to crack down on deadly military-style weapons, ban bump stop modifications that transform semi-automatic guns into fully automatic weapons, and to create common sense safeguards that keep guns out of the hands of dangerous criminals and individuals with a history of mental illness and domestic abuse. At the same time, he supports the right for law-abiding individuals to carry a concealed weapon after receiving adequate training.

Thaddeus Jones is sponsored legislation that would increase the minimum wage for Illinois workers, he understands that employee productivity has been on the rise for years while wages have remained stagnant. He also supports the creation of incentives for businesses to create good paying, long-term employment opportunities for individuals who are reentering the workforce.
